The main objective of this Master’s Degree is to train experts in analyzing international economy and development through a thorough, rigorous and advanced training process that enables them to perform several types of jobs (both academic and professional) and lead research teams.

This Master’s Degree provides:

  • Skills for formulating and developing research and studies.
  • Expert knowledge on central features of various fields, scopes and topics concerning the global economy and development.

General skills:

  • Analyze, synthesize and formulate rational and reflective judgements, which are supported by the gathering and also preparation- of the available and required information.
  • Design, organize, plan and implement the necessary steps in order to fully and properly carry out tasks in the field of research.
  • Efficient public communication and teamwork in a wide range of international and multicultural environments, in a respectful, stimulant and fruitful way.
  • Solve problems, which can occasionally be new, and be able to propose alternatives by undertaking the assigned responsibilities.
  • Search and find information by using different documentary and statistical sources (physical and virtual libraries, websites of international and national organizations both public and private, books and manuals, articles in specialized journals, statistical yearbooks, etc.).
  • Continuous learning, knowing how to manage the study process depending on the formulation and analysis that is required by the information.
  • Fluent oral and written communication in English, as speakers and receivers.
  • Apply general knowledge in specific situations, even in limited and demanding contexts (strict deadlines, resource scarcity, etc.).
  • Efficient use of information and communication technologies (Internet, computer programmes and telematic resources, etc.).

The training offered by this Master’s Degree enables a subsequent development in two different career paths: a prominent professional career that allows students to work as analysts or researchers at national or international research centres in different organizations, services for economic studies at banks and major companies, NGOs, organizations for development aid, think tanks or socio-economic research organizations. The other career path consists of enrolling in a Ph.D. programme.
